Norwalk River Cleanup Saturday, July 31 The
Chapter
will be removing trash and debris from a one-mile stretch of the Norwalk River
on Saturday, July 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will meet at the Lions Club ball field on Old Mill Road at 9 and break into three groups to clean different stretches of the stream. The town of Wilton will provide a dumpster to collect the trash pulled from the river. Park at the gravel lot at the Lions Club Feild. Carpooling to the three sections of river will be arranged that morning. Volunteers are always needed. Bring waders, gloves
and a strong back, the chapter will provide the equipment and

Fly Fishing
with Lou Tabory Saturday, July 31 Westport Outfitters, at 609
Riverside Avenue in Westport, brings back the popular introductory and
intermediate saltwater fly fishing classes with the legendary Lou Tabory. The
day-log class begins with casting lessons at 6 a.m. at Compo Beach in Westport
and includes lunch and a formal presentation at the store before heading back
to the beach for more hands-on casting lessons. The cost is $150. Visit the

Mianus River Park Trail Work Saturday, August 7 The
Friends of the Mianus River Park holds monthly trail work restoration
projects on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Volunteers meet at the Merriebrook Road bridge and help clear and build
trails, repair damaged areas in the park and more. Visit the Friends of
the Mianus River Park online or email Ryan Tucker, trailwork coordinator, for more information or to volunteer. Trail work is
canceled on days that it rains.

Norwalk River Restoration Project Saturday, August 21 The
Chapter will be conducting a restoration project on the Norwalk River
on Saturday, August 21 from 9 a.m. to Noon. We will be adding a new layer
to the School Road conifer revetment and planting native willows and other plant along the river in Wilton. The conifer
revetment uses pine trees to build up stable river banks, remove
sediment and debris from the river and provide habitat for juvenile
trout. Park along the side of School Road near the entrance to the gravel bike trail - as marked by the Mianus TU banner.
Volunteers are always needed. Bring gloves
and a strong back, the chapter will provide the equipment and
