Chapter fishing outings
Housatonic River Outing
May 9, 2009

This year the Mianus Chapter switched its annual spring outing from the Farmington River to the Housatonic River. Despite high water conditions, members had a great time, caugth some fish and learned a ton about how and where to fish this legendary river from guide Chris Harrington.

Marty Iannone of Housatonic Meadows Fly Shop provided the chapter with everything they needed for a successful day, including his grill for the mid-day barbecue!

Farmington River Outing
September 2007

As the seasons change and weather cools, the Farmington comes alive as trout begin a final feeding frenzy before winter sets in. The Mianus Chapter was there to capitalize on the action. Despite a slow start to the day, many members ended up catching fish, and all had a good time sharing the camaraderie on the river.

Connetquot River Outing
March 2006

Twice a year the Mianus Chapter heads to the fabled waters of the Connetquot River in Long Island. Nestled in the heart of an expansive state forest and wildlife sanctuary, the Connetquot was once the private hunting and fishing preserve of the wealthiest families in New York City. Now, open to the public, the river offers fishing where the days cathes number in the dozens for most anglers and there are ample chances at fish over 20 inches, and some over 20 pounds!

If you take care of the fish, the fishing will take care of itself.
