About the Mianus Chapter
Mike Law works on a Norwalk River restoration project.
Trout Unlimited is a national organization devoted to conserving, protecting, and restoring our coldwater fisheries. With more than 120,000 members, it is composed of over 400 local chapters of which nine are in Connecticut. The Mianus Chapter has over 500 members living in the Greenwich, Stamford, Darien, Norwalk, New Canaan, Ridgefield and Wilton communities.

The chapter membership meets monthly, typically at Waveny Mansion in New Canaan, to cover chapter business and hear from a variety of speakers on a range of topics. (See Upcoming Events for more details)

As a conservation organization, the Mianus Chapter is primarily involved in active restoration work on local rivers and streams, but also promotes educational activities, hosts regular fishing outings and works with local and state agencies and regional environmental organizations to plan and implement conservation programs.

The chapter activities include:

   - Restoring trout habitat in the Mianus and Norwalk rivers.
   - Keeping our rivers and their banks free from pollution and garbage through annual river cleanup events.
   - Running trout and salmon hatcheries in the local schools as part of an educational curriculum.
   - Partnering with government agencies and environmental organizations in strategic planning initiatives.
   - Hosting an annual fishing derby for Connecticut Special Olympics.
   - Holding monthly chapter meetings to keep members informed and active.
   - Coordinating frequent fishing outings to local waters and far-off locations.

If you take care of the fish, the fishing will take care of itself.
